3. Negotiate growth and exceptions
Ask for written expansion rates, allowance changes, overage treatment, future increases and exit assistance.
Start with the contract, not the headline discount
Record the exact product and edition, billing unit, committed quantity, measurement period and renewal notice date. Keep software fees separate from services and other charges. A reduction in operational use does not automatically reduce a contractual minimum.
