SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP Signavio and SAP LeanIX often arrive at renewal together — sold by the same account team, sometimes co-termed, and increasingly packaged into RISE with SAP. But they are three different products with three different commercial models: BTP is usually bought as prepaid cloud credits consumed service by service, Signavio is licensed largely per user with process-mining capacity on top, and LeanIX is priced by application count with unlimited users. A renewal that treats them as one “transformation line” hides where the money really goes.
This guide walks the shape of these renewals from the buyer's side. It comes from Fortune 500 sourcing experience and thousands of renewals worth of pattern recognition — not from SAP, and not from a reseller taking a referral fee. It teaches you where the cost really comes from and the evidence to gather before you negotiate.
Very little pricing for these products is public. The few figures below are SAP (UK) Limited's published UK public-sector catalog prices (G-Cloud 14) in GBP — a public reference point for the shape of the pricing, not a commercial benchmark, not anyone's confidential contract, and not a promise of savings.
Directional and estimated ranges from public pricing and aggregated renewal experience — not any organization's confidential terms, and not a promise of savings. How SAP BTP, Signavio and LeanIX pricing drives your renewal cost
SAP BTP: credits, subscriptions and consumption
SAP sells BTP under consumption-based models and a subscription model. The consumption models are the Cloud Platform Enterprise Agreement (CPEA), the SAP BTP Enterprise Agreement (BTPEA), introduced in April 2024, and Pay-As-You-Go. SAP says CPEA continues for existing CPEA accounts and its service scope will not be extended. CPEA and BTPEA are both a prepaid investment in cloud credits with an annual commitment to consume: SAP bills annually in advance, issues a monthly balance statement by service, deducts usage from the credit balance, and bills overage in arrears at list price. SAP's CPEA FAQ describes annual credit periods with unused credits expiring at the end of each period. Pay-As-You-Go has no commitment but, per SAP, no entry or volume discounts. Subscriptions are a fixed fee for specific services regardless of usage. Each service meters differently — SAP HANA Cloud in capacity units, SAP Integration Suite on tenants and messages — and SAP Discovery Center publishes the metrics and list prices.
SAP Signavio: users and process-mining capacity
The SAP Signavio Process Transformation Suite spans Process Manager, Process Intelligence, Process Insights, Collaboration Hub, Journey Modeler and other components. SAP's own public-sector catalog lists SAP Signavio per user, per year. Process Intelligence is commonly described as carrying an additional data-volume or capacity metric; SAP does not publish one definition we could verify, so confirm the unit, the included volume and the overage rule on your order form.
SAP LeanIX: applications, not users
SAP completed its acquisition of LeanIX in November 2023. SAP's public-sector catalog prices LeanIX per unit of 100 applications per year, with tiered discount pricing and unlimited users. The core product is Application Portfolio Management; Technology Risk and Compliance and Architecture and Road Map Planning (renamed in January 2024 from Technology Risk Management and Business Transformation Management) are listed as add-ons on the same basis. Legacy LeanIX contracts may be renewed onto SAP paper — read the new terms, not last year's.
How they show up in RISE with SAP and GROW with SAP
SAP's 2023 RISE premium plus package added BTP capabilities, including SAP Build, and SAP Signavio Process Insights. Its April 2025 SAP Cloud ERP Private package lists SAP LeanIX and SAP Signavio capabilities alongside SAP Build and SAP HANA Cloud. GROW with SAP, the S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition offer, is widely described by partners as including some BTP credits — confirm against your order form. Bundled entitlements are often not priced line by line, and an “included” entitlement can be scoped, capped or time-limited.
Where the money hides: the traps in these renewals
The cost usually hides in six places:
- Expiring BTP credits. A commitment sized to SAP's growth plan instead of your burn, with unused credits lapsing at the end of the credit period.
- BTP overage at list. Running past your balance means paying list price exactly when usage spikes — and production workloads left on Pay-As-You-Go never earn a volume discount.
- Idle Signavio seats and unconnected mining capacity. Paid users who modeled a process once, and capacity bought for source systems that were never connected.
- An inflated LeanIX inventory. Retired, duplicate and out-of-scope applications still count toward your application units, and add-ons get carried whether used or not.
- RISE bundle opacity. Entitlements buried in a RISE or GROW number you can't take apart, right-size or benchmark.
- Missed notice windows and stacked uplift. Three products can mean three notice dates — miss one and it renews at the vendor's number.
The levers that actually work
A handful of moves do most of the work:
- Rebuild BTP burn from SAP's own statements. Pull monthly balance statements, burn by service, unused credits by expiry date and overage history, then size the commitment to that evidence.
- Negotiate credit flexibility. Ask for carry-over or re-phasing of unused credits and top-ups at your contracted rate instead of list-price overage.
- True down Signavio and LeanIX before the quote. Reconcile Signavio users to active users by role and module; reconcile LeanIX application units to the live inventory and drop unused add-ons.
- Define the meters in writing. What counts as a Signavio user, a LeanIX application, and a unit of process-mining capacity.
- Force bundle attribution. Have SAP name, quantify, value and date every BTP, Signavio and LeanIX entitlement inside RISE or GROW, and keep a costed alternative for at least one use case per product.
Timing and leverage: when to start
Leverage is a function of time and evidence. SAP account teams carry quarterly and year-end targets, and a live RISE conversation is when SAP most wants the transformation tools attached — but that only helps a buyer whose analysis is already done.
Start six to nine months before the earliest renewal date, and nine to twelve months out if RISE or GROW is in play. Diary each product's notice window separately and freeze your evidence — credit balance, user list, application count — before SAP's renewal snapshot. The team that arrives with its own burn report and inventory sets the terms of the conversation.
Gather these three things before a triage call
- Your executed order form(s), amendments and the commercial model each one uses (BTPEA, CPEA, PAYG or subscription)
- The latest invoice or renewal quote, with BTP, Signavio and LeanIX shown on separate lines
- BTP global-account consumption and credit statements, plus Signavio user and LeanIX application counts
With those in hand, a 15-minute call can tell you where your leverage is. Nothing needs to be shared before the call.

When should I start negotiating my SAP BTP, Signavio or LeanIX renewal?
Start six to nine months before the earliest of the three renewal dates, and nine to twelve months out if any of them is co-termed with, or about to be pulled into, a RISE with SAP or GROW with SAP contract. Each product can carry its own notice window, so diary them separately. Use the time to pull your BTP monthly balance statements, Signavio user lists and LeanIX application inventory before SAP's renewal snapshot sets the baseline.
Do unused SAP BTP cloud credits roll over?
Not by default. Under the prepaid consumption models (CPEA and the newer BTP Enterprise Agreement), you commit to cloud credits that are burned service by service, and SAP's CPEA FAQ describes annual credit periods with unused credits expiring at the end of each period. Overage beyond your balance is billed in arrears at list price. Any carry-over, re-phasing or discounted top-up is something you negotiate and get in writing — confirm the rule on your own contract.
How is SAP Signavio licensed?
SAP Signavio is a suite — the Process Transformation Suite includes Process Manager, Process Intelligence, Process Insights, Collaboration Hub and other components — and SAP's own public-sector catalog lists it per user, per year. Process mining is commonly described as carrying an additional data-volume or capacity metric on top of users. Reconcile paid seats to active users by role, and confirm the exact capacity unit, included volume and overage rule on your order form.
How is SAP LeanIX priced?
SAP's public-sector catalog listings price SAP LeanIX per unit of 100 applications per year, with tiered discount pricing and unlimited users. The core product is Application Portfolio Management; Technology Risk and Compliance and Architecture and Road Map Planning are listed as add-ons on the same application-unit basis. Your cost is driven by how many applications sit in the inventory, so clean out retired and duplicate applications before you renew.
Are Signavio, LeanIX and BTP included in RISE with SAP?
Sometimes, and only as your contract defines. SAP has packaged BTP capabilities and Signavio Process Insights into an earlier RISE premium plus package, and its 2025 SAP Cloud ERP Private package lists SAP LeanIX and SAP Signavio capabilities. Inclusions are often not priced line by line and can be scoped or time-limited, so ask SAP to name, quantify and value every included entitlement and state when it ends.
Key takeaways
- Treat BTP, Signavio and LeanIX as three separate renewals with three separate meters: cloud credits burned per service, users (plus process-mining capacity), and applications.
- Size the BTP credit commitment to your real burn from SAP's monthly balance statements — unused credits expire at the end of each credit period by default, and overage is billed at list.
- Reconcile paid Signavio seats to active users by role and module, and confirm the process-mining capacity unit before you renew it.
- Clean the LeanIX application inventory before renewal — pricing is per 100 applications with unlimited users, so retired and duplicate applications cost real money.
- Make SAP name, quantify, value and date every BTP, Signavio and LeanIX entitlement bundled into RISE or GROW, and start six to nine months out (nine to twelve if RISE is in play).
